Despite what the locals of the quaint town of Angel Falls may say about their proud little slice of heaven, Angel Falls is a recently new development. Back in the 1920s, the city of New Heaven underwent massive structural change. Most of the shoreline of the city gave way from the massive fishing businesses to more lucrative industrial tankers and cruise ship businesses. This, however, didn’t change the need for the colossal fishing industry. New Heaven mayor Landon Finsk entered into a joint business venture with fishing magnate and multi-millionaire Viktor Rotheram the Tenth to begin construction on a fishing port located twenty miles North of New Heaven. While zoning the area for residential housing, the construction crews there discovered a large river runnng through the town’s center that drained into the ocean. While following the river, they discovered a large waterfall several feet in length that could provide the new settlement with fresh running water. This inspired the duo to name the fishing settlement Angel Falls. The construction began in the Spring of 1922, and didn’t conclude until after Landon Finsk’s resignation in 1923. Viktor the Tenth continued with the town’s settlement, gradually relocating a majority of his fishing staff there with th promise of free lodgings while employed with his company. As the fishermen settled into the town, several savvy business leaders followed, eager to provide goods and services in exchange for a small portion of Viktor’s massive wealth.
Before long, the fishing setlement grew into a bustling town. It was constructed into two halves, separated by the river running directly through it. The local fishermen spent their mornings traveling to the massive docks to fish in the ocean with their company-owned boats, while their children enrolled in the town’s newly created public school. Several businesses popped up in the area. Butchers, bakeries, grocery stores, a post office, pawn shops, and even a few novelty stores made a comfortable living providing services that kept the fishermen from having to make the long drive back to New Heaven.
In the 80s, a mass resurgency of simplistic lifestyle edged those living in the city to move out to more rural areas. This caused the population of Angel Falls to balloon up to several thousands. The founder’s descendant, also named Viktor, managed to handle the boom in population despite the drop in business from his inherited fishing business by offering tax incentives for construction projects in the small town. This turned the tiny town of Angel Falls into a place with movie theatres, art installations, bustling large chaingrocery stores, and hotel chains for tourists. The purpose of Angel Falls canged from a fishing settlement into a functional town.
Today, many of the younger residents of Angel Falls expect to migrate into New Heaven after graduating high school in search of their chosen careers. Most of the population is elderly, making up nearly forty-eight percent of the town’s 3,500 residents. They enjoy the peaceful, slow atmosphere that the town offers them. Many of the adult residents arrive at Angel Falls to find work as fishermen, a laborous career that offers a good salary for those who are unfortunately uneducated. Many seeking higher degrees are forced to commute to New Heaven for their job, which oftentimes leads to them moving away from the town. The town of Angel Falls is consistently ranked one of the highest in low crime rates of the entire state, making it an ideal place to raise a family. Many of the residents report never needing to lock their cars and houses, viewing their neighbors as friendly and upstanding citizens.
